The third edition of this work on Lorenzo de'Medici by William Roscoe, published the year after the first and second editions. With an engraved portrait of Lorenzo de Medici as the frontispiece to volume I. His research formed this biographical work which earned him a reputation among contemporary historians. It was an incredibly popular work and was held in high esteem in the field of historical literature for many years. The work ran through several translations and editions. Lorenzo de'Medici was an Italian statesman and de facto ruler of the Florentine Republic. He is regarded as one of the most powerful and influential patrons of the Renaissance.
