The 23rd edition of the National Visual Arts Award of the City of Gallarate deals with the field of photography. 11 Italian photographers selectionned by the scientific commission present in the show (Marh 7th - june 14th 2009) entitled Terzo Paesaggio. Fotografia italiana, a range of unseen works, some of which produced especially for the event. The outlook of te 11 artist present towards reality, and which is passed on to us through their works, albeit linguistically characterised by a precise identity, often focus on somewhat marginal, hidden situatiuons, apparently little visible to the distracted gaze or that otherwise bombarded with aggressive and redundant imagery. It is thus a gaze cast towards the territories of diversity, of the visual and emotional residues largely relegated to non-spectacular and rather lateral landscape situations. This very idea of marginality, this attention to the unseen and unsaid, to residual elements and spaces which, being residual, play host to diversity and life, is the common thread linking the works on show.
