The photographs of Ludovic Cesari (born 1984), who lives and works in Paris, can be regarded from the prism of their singularity but also from that of their interdependence. At the core of his displays (diptychs, triptychs, and polyptychs), he brings into play narrative continuities and discontinuities, echoes and contrasts of form that emerge from these relationships. This book, the first he has published with Damiani, was designed as a grid of connections between shapes, textures, and photographs, between one page and another, and provides an experience akin to memories. Full of sensations, his representations of the body, always faceless, often fragmentary in nature, replace recognition with a form of tactility that has a hint of eroticism. Forms emerge from his sublime, out-of-focus landscapes and draw the eye into a fluctuation between what it perceives and what it senses. Far from treating his body photography and his landscapes, both natural and urban, as two separate genres, Cesari conveys a sense of unity between the visible elements, where the textures of skin, stones, emotions and photographic paper come together to create a single evocative force.
