The book almost marks the completion of an itinerary, or rather logs the progress of a research that starts with the faces in black and white and moves through to the presence of color. For the first time, the six powerful yelling faces are enclosed, almost confined, in large wooden cases-stark and essential, making no concession to decor-that block them and confine them, almost as if to prevent them from deflagrating.
