The city of Rome played an extremely important role in the life of John Paul II: from the time Karol Wojtyla studied at the Angelicum (1946-1948)to his participation in the Second Vatican Council and later his election as Pope and finally his death. The photographs, mementos, documents and quotes from his writings and speeches published in this book illustrate and define the Pope's relationship with the city of Rome. I summarised in his own words: "What is Rome's mission? ... the mission of Rome is amor."
