The exhibition inaugurated in Milan at the Galleria Poleschi Arte presents six important sculptures by Giuliano Vangi, accompanied by some sketches and etchings. The sculptures on display, in marble, ebony and polychromatic wood, represent an example of the artist's meditation on human figure that is on Vangi's opinion absolutely connected to mystery. The mystery expressed by his figures changes into fear and anxiety that are clearly perceived in their faces, scared by the ineluctable condition of unknown people, without any identity and landmarks. Giuliano Vangi was born in Barberino di Mugello in 1931, he started his activity as a sculptor at the end of the 50s and obtained various recognitions in Italy and abroad; in the last years Vangi was engaged in various public commissions and prestigious works (Siena, Padua, Rome, Pisa, Pietralcina). The exhibition catalogue presents various photographs of the sculptures on display, of the sketches and etchings and is accompanied by the critical essays written by Giorgio Soavi, Maurizio Calvesi and Dino Carlesi, and texts on Vangi's biography and his personal shows.
