This catalogue aims to present the public the wonderful series of projects for the decoration of Palais des Festivals et des Congrès of Cannes, made by Riccardo Schweizer. This last came from Trentino and spent many years on the Cote d'Azur; his art was thus positively influenced by the creative movements of 50s existing in this area. Schweizer, particularly interested to Picasso's art, was involved in the research of a pubblic art that may be close to the needs of people. The drawings and architectural projects that are published in this volume, but could not be realized due to administrative problems, show an absolutely surprising freshness. This volume is the result of the cooperation of two important artistical institutions of Trentino: the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto and the Municipal Gallery of Contemporary Art of Trento. This publication is also aimed to announce a project of the artists of Trentino working out of their birthplace and is enriched by a series of documents concerning Riccardo Schweizer's biography and his production.
